River Academy, opened in September 2024, is looking for a Teacher of Geography to join our growing team. This role focuses on securing strong progress and attainment for all students through consistently effective teaching, clear curriculum delivery and a commitment to inclusive practice.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver effective Geography lessons in line with Trust and school frameworks.
- Motivate and inspire students to achieve high academic standards and sustained engagement.
- Use assessment effectively to inform planning, close gaps and support student progress.
- Maintain high standards of behaviour for learning in line with Trust expectations.
- Act as a form tutor and contribute to pastoral care, wellbeing and inclusion.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues, parents and external partners to support outcomes.
- Contribute to curriculum enrichment, including trips and wider learning opportunities.
- Uphold safeguarding, health and safety, and all Trust policies consistently.

- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with a relevant degree.
- Strong subject knowledge in Geography and a commitment to high‑quality teaching.

River Academy is a purpose‑built secondary school serving the growing need for school places in the Reading area. Located on Richfield Avenue, the site includes specialist teaching facilities across the curriculum, including a hall, activity studio, learning resource centre, drama studio and sports studio. Classrooms are fully equipped with interactive screens and visualisers. The school has high expectations for all students, with a clear focus on academic excellence and participation. When fully opened, River Academy will serve students of all abilities and backgrounds, alongside an additional resource base for students with moderate learning difficulties.
