The Wrap Around Care Assistant plays a vital role in providing a safe, engaging, and nurturing environment for children attending our breakfast club. You will help to deliver high-quality activities, positive routines, and a welcoming atmosphere that supports pupils’ wellbeing outside of the school day. This role ensures that every child feels happy, secure, and included during wrap-around provision. Through effective supervision, creative planning, and close collaboration with colleagues and families, the Wrap Around Care Assistant contributes to positive behaviour, strong relationships, and a smooth start to each school day.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise children during breakfast sessions, ensuring their safety and wellbeing at all times.
- Lead and support a range of play, creative, and recreational activities that promote social development and enjoyment.
- Build positive relationships with pupils to help them feel confident, included, and supported.
- Work closely with the wider school staff to ensure consistent routines and expectations.
- Provide clear, supportive communication to parents and carers during drop-off and collection times.
- Share relevant observations or concerns regarding pupil wellbeing, behaviour, or participation.
- Help prepare resources, set up activities, and maintain a safe, tidy, and welcoming environment.
- Support the organisation of snacks and refreshments in line with health and safety and dietary requirements.
- Follow school and wrap around care provider policies and safeguarding procedures, ensuring accurate reporting and record keeping.
- Participate in staff training, including safeguarding and first aid, applying new learning to improve practice.
- Model positive behaviour, kindness, and professionalism at all times.
- Demonstrate reliability, initiative, and a commitment to providing high-quality wrap-around care.
The Ideal Candidate
- Experience working with children in a school, childcare, or activity-based setting (desirable).
- Understanding of safeguarding, supervision, and basic behaviour management strategies.
- Ability to lead and support engaging activities suitable for primary-aged children.
- Warm, friendly, and approachable, with a child-centred attitude.
- Calm, reliable, and able to respond sensitively to children’s needs.
- A positive team player who can also work independently when required.
