About This Role

We are seeking a Finance Assistant to provide accurate, efficient and compliant finance administration across Great Hollands Primary School and Birch Hill Primary School. Working under the direction of the Hub Finance Officer, you will support the smooth running of school finance processes, including purchase orders, invoices, goods received notes, reconciliations, cashless payments, trips, events and pupil‑related funding administration. This role is important in helping schools operate effectively so that colleagues can focus on delivering high‑quality education and support for pupils. The postholder will work closely with colleagues, suppliers, parents, carers, budget holders and Trust finance colleagues.

Key Responsibilities

  • Process purchase orders, goods received notes and invoices using PS Financials.
  • Support colleagues and requisitioners with finance queries and order processes.
  • Check deliveries and support the distribution of goods to departments.
  • Deal with enquiries relating to orders, deliveries, returns and refunds.
  • Reconcile monthly credit card and prepaid card statements.
  • Support the financial administration of trips, events and cashless payment systems.
  • Assist with Pupil Premium, Catch Up Premium, Sports Premium and Free School Meal administration and reporting.
  • Maintain accurate financial records to support monitoring, reporting and audit requirements.
  • Support best value purchasing in liaison with relevant Trust colleagues.
  • Attend Trust‑wide finance assistant network meetings and training sessions.

The Ideal Candidate

The successful candidate will have strong numeracy skills and the ability to work accurately with financial information. You will be organised, reliable and able to manage changing priorities in a busy finance environment. You will be confident using financial systems and Microsoft or Google applications, with experience of maintaining accurate manual and computerised records. Experience of finance administration, accounts payable or working in a finance office would be desirable. You will communicate clearly with colleagues, suppliers and other stakeholders, work well as part of a team and be committed to developing your own skills.
