English Teacher Maternity Cover at Maiden Erlegh School in Reading

About this Role

We are seeking to appoint a Classrom Teacher of English to join Maiden Erlegh Trust on a fixed term maternity cover basis. This role offers the opportunity to deliver highly effective teaching within a collaborative Trust environment, ensuring that all students make strong progress, achieve high academic standards and experience a safe, purposeful and ambitious learning environment.

You will be responsible for planning and delivering engaging English lessons across your allocated timetable, contributing to curriculum development and supporting students to achieve their full potential. You will also take on tutor responsibilities and play a key role in supporting student wellbeing, behaviour and academic progress.

Key responsibilities

• Plan,resource and deliver highly effective English lessons in line with Trustframeworks and schemes of work
• Inspireand motivate students to engage positively in their learning and achieve highacademic standards
• Useassessment effectively to monitor progress, inform planning and closeattainment gaps
• Maintainhigh standards of behaviour for learning and contribute to a safe andpurposeful classroom environment
• Actas a form tutor, supporting students' personal development, attendance and wellbeing
• Workcollaboratively with colleagues, parents and carers to support student progress
• Contributeto curriculum enrichment, including trips, visits and wider learningopportunities
• UpholdTrust policies including safeguarding, behaviour, assessment and reportingrequirements
• Participatefully in appraisal, professional development and wider school life

The ideal candidate

• HoldsQualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a relevant degree
• Hasstrong subject knowledge in English and a passion for teaching the subject
• Demonstrates the ability to deliver high-quality teaching and secure strong student outcomes
• Iscommitted to inclusion and ensuring all students, including those with SEND and disadvantaged students, achieve their potential
• Haseffective behaviour management skills and the ability to create a positivelearning environment
• Communicateseffectively with students, colleagues and parents
• Isorganised, reflective and committed to continuous professional development
• Iswilling to contribute to the wider life of the school and Trust
