The Supply Chain Planner is responsible for ensuring the efficient flow of goods from suppliers to customers. This role involves demand forecasting, inventory planning, scheduling, and coordinating with internal and external stakeholders to optimise supply chain performance, reduce costs, and maintain service levels.
Key Responsibilities- Planning & Forecasting
- Develop and maintain accurate demand forecasts using historical data and market insights
- Collaborate with sales, procurement, and operations teams to align supply with demand
- Monitor forecast accuracy and implement improvements
- Inventory Management
- Optimise inventory levels to balance availability and cost
- Monitor stock levels, slow-moving items, and obsolescence risks
- Set and maintain safety stock, min-max levels and reorder points
- Supply Planning
- Create and manage supply and replenishment plans
- Coordinate with suppliers and manufacturers to ensure timely delivery
- Identify and resolve supply constraints and bottlenecks
- Capacity Planning & Scheduling
- Develop delivery schedules in line with demand forecasts
- Work closely with operations teams to ensure capacity alignment
- Adjust plans based on changes in demand or supply disruptions
- Data Analysis & Reporting
- Analyse supply chain performance metrics (e.g., service level, inventory turnover)
- Prepare regular reports and dashboards for stakeholders
- Use data to drive continuous improvement initiatives
- Stakeholder Management
- Liaise with procurement, logistics, finance, and sales teams
- Build strong relationships with suppliers and third-party partners
- Communicate risks, issues, and mitigation plans effectively
- Previous experience in supply chain planning, demand planning or inventory management
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Advanced Excel skills with the ability to analyse data and identify trends
- Experience using ERP/MRP systems
- Good understanding of supply chain principles, forecasting and planning processes
- Strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and perform well under pressure
- A proactive and solutions-focused mindset
- Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively across teams and stakeholders
- Confidence using data to support decision-making and improve performance
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to prioritise effectively

- Experience with ERP systems such as Oracle, NetSuite, SAP or Microsoft Dynamics
