MAGROUP Magnaghi UK is seeking a Senior Design Engineering Lead. In this position, you will be reporting to the project chief engineer and be responsible for the design of landing gear assemblies and components during the conceptual design phase of a new development program for Magnaghi Aeronautica (MA), Naples Italy. MAGROUP Magnaghi UK is located in Stroud, Gloucestershire, UK. It is part of MAGROUP Magnaghi Aerospace, a leading aerospace group specializing in the production of landing gear systems, aerostructures, hydraulic and electronic systems for both commercial and defence aviation.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct trade and sensitivity studies on landing gear concepts considering installation, component/assembly tolerances, initial structural sizing, landing gear bay space constraints, kinematic functionality, manufacturing, and assembly constraints to converge on the most effective solution for the aircraft.
- Work with the chief engineer, stress engineer and remaining product development team to finalize and document the trade studies for progressing product development.
- Manage landing gear product configuration trees for each trade study configuration under review within Catia V5 configuration tree and Siemens TeamCenter PDM.
- Manage Catia V5 DMU environment for internal MA product development team and interface with customer.
- Generate landing gear assembly and component part design solutions in Catia considering customer requirements/constraints, MA product development team input/feedback and FAA/EASA regulatory requirements.
- Generate design analysis reports and trade study reports for customer submittal.
Basic Qualifications
- 8-10 years aircraft industry experience designing landing gears and/or mechanisms and/or hydraulic actuation equipment.
- Good understanding of landing gear and familiarity with specifications ARP1311, ARP1595, ARP5908, AIR4566 and AIR1800 is preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in mechanical/aerospace engineering or related discipline or 10-15 years specific landing gear design experience.
- Working knowledge of Catia V5 detail design, kinematics and DMU environment.
- Good understanding of electric actuation system.
- Good understanding of both hydraulic and electric brake mechanisms.
- Demonstrated understanding of aerospace materials and manufacturing processes.
- Good understanding of ARP4754 and how requirements are derived and integrated within the engineering project team.
- Ability to obtain and maintain required Security Clearance.
- Candidates must have been a UK resident for a minimum of 5 years.
