Operations Manager

The Opportunity

We’re looking for an ambitious Operations Manager to take ownership of process and packing operations at a busy, high-performing fresh food manufacturing site.

This is a key leadership position where you’ll have the opportunity to shape operational performance, develop people and drive continuous improvement, while ensuring the highest standards of safety, quality, service and cost.

You’ll be responsible for delivering the production plan, improving efficiency and yield, managing costs and building a strong, engaged operational team.

  • Lead and develop the Process and Packing teams, creating a high-performance culture.
  • Own operational performance across Safety, Quality, People, Delivery and Cost (SQPDC).
  • Drive Lean, CI and operational excellence initiatives to improve efficiency, yield and output.
  • Ensure production plans are delivered to a target of 97%+ attainment.
  • Maintain the highest standards of food safety, quality, GMP, HACCP and BRCGS compliance.
  • Lead workforce planning, training, performance management and employee engagement.
  • Manage departmental budgets, labour costs, waste and product yields.
  • Identify and remove production constraints through effective planning and S&OP.
  • Support capital investment and capacity planning to meet future demand.
  • Work closely with Technical, Engineering, Planning and other key functions.
  • Deputise for the Site Director when required.

  • Proven Operations/Manufacturing Management experience, ideally within food or FMCG.
  • Strong knowledge of BRCGS, HACCP, GMP and food safety standards.
  • Experience leading teams within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • A track record of delivering continuous improvement, efficiency and cost savings.
  • Strong commercial, analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent leadership and communication abilities.
  • Confident working at both strategic and operational levels.
  • A hands-on, results-driven approach with the ability to inspire and develop others.
