Role Purpose

The UKIE Customs Senior Specialist ensures stable, compliant, and predictable customs execution across UK and Ireland flows, translating approved trade compliance requirements into consistent operational practice following Brexit. The role supports day‑to‑day customs execution, enables business continuity across the UK–EU interface, and safeguards operational performance through strong controls, issue resolution, and audit readiness.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure stable day-to-day customs execution across UK and Ireland flows, embedding approved compliance requirements into operational logistics processes.
  • Operate core customs controls to support imports, exports, and UK–EU cross‑border movements, ensuring consistent application across sites and partners.
  • Resolve operational customs issues (e.g. clearance delays, document gaps, border queries) and coordinate escalation with the appropriate customs Leads.
  • Support execution of special procedures (e.g. customs warehousing, inward/outward processing, transit) by ensuring operational discipline and evidence retention.
  • Maintain audit readiness through compliance assurance activities, evidence management, and structured issue follow‑up.
  • Support internal and external audits and interactions with UK and Irish customs authorities, driving corrective actions to closure.
  • Enable business changes by ensuring customs operational readiness for new flows, suppliers, sites, or processes prior to go‑live.
  • Drive performance stability and continuous improvement by standardising execution, reducing recurring issues, and strengthening SOPs and controls.
  • Setting up customs related process for newly implemented transport lanes, Self-processing of customs (Cora AP) as a second level of approval.
  • Manage relations with customs brokers and Transport Team.
  • Provide supporting documentation for Classification of the goods and origin definition; supervision on duty rates applied.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, Supply Chain, or International Trade with 5+ years’ experience in European customs, trade compliance, or international logistics.
  • Strong hands-on background in day-to-day customs execution UK-EU borders flows, issue resolution, and multi-country operations, including collaboration with brokers/forwarders.
  • Solid knowledge of UK and EU customs procedures, Incoterms, and how tariff classification, origin, and valuation affect declarations.
  • Experience with ERP/trade compliance systems; fluent in English, additional languages a plus.
