At Trawsfynydd site the Reactor Dismantling Team are looking for a driven and innovative Mechanical Project Engineer to help shape the future of the site as it transitions to a safe and secure end state. This is your opportunity to lead on technically challenging projects, influence key decisions, and see your ideas come to life from concept through to commissioning phases and beyond, all while working alongside a highly skilled and passionate team.

What will you be doing:

In this role, you’ll take ownership of delivering robust, fit-for-purpose engineering solutions, translating project functional requirements and stakeholder needs for assigned projects into effective designs and technical specifications that stand up to the highest safety and quality standards. You’ll be instrumental in guiding the full project lifecycle, contributing to design, optioneering & safety case, while ensuring all detailed design activities align with design authority standards. Acting as a technical resource, you’ll oversee detailed design, assess contractor outputs, to ensure every element is delivered safely and in line with intent. Finally, you’ll play a key role in successful project completion.

You will also:

  • Produce and review project technical specifications.
  • Carry out technical review of contractor design proposals.
  • Provide technical supervision of construction/deconstruction activities to ensure compliance with design intent.
  • Engage with internal and external stakeholders on this first of a kind project.

Who are we looking for

We’re looking for a proactive and delivery-focused Project Engineer with a proven record and passion for delivering in high-performing project teams with hands-on experience applying engineering principles within complex plant settings. With experience in CDM Design responsibilities and a track record of successful project contribution, you’ll be confident navigating safety, quality, and regulatory standards.

You will have:

  • HNC (Level 4) as a minimum, preferably degree qualified (Level 6) or working towards.
  • Be a chartered Engineer or working towards obtaining chartered status.
  • Experience in practising disciplined engineering role on an industrial plant.

It would be advantageous to have knowledge/experience in mechanical engineering and computer aided design.

The successful candidates will be required to hold Authorisations commensurate with the role.
