As a Project Engineer, you will be at the centre of activities such as waste recovery, equipment installation, commissioning and encapsulation processes, working closely with both internal teams and specialist contractors. What will you be doing

You’ll support the safe and efficient delivery of wet waste retrieval and processing work, contributing to everything from pumped/vacuum waste recovery to the installation and commissioning of plant and equipment. Your role will span technical problem‑solving, engineering design input, documentation control and hands‑on support throughout the full project lifecycle. You’ll help ensure activities meet functional requirements, engineering standards and regulatory expectations, while maintaining excellent configuration control and supporting learning across the team. You’ll also play a vital part in preparing work packages, developing safe systems of work and ensuring projects are handed over smoothly to operations, complete with the right documentation, training materials and technical clarity. Flexibility is key you’ll apply your core discipline expertise while also working across wider engineering scopes where suitably qualified and experienced.

Key elements of the role include:

  • Producing technical solutions, specifications, drawings and work packages
  • Managing and supporting design, modification and commissioning activities
  • Maintaining documentation, safety compliance and configuration control
  • Contributing to reviews, safety studies, and continuous improvement

Who are we looking for

We’re looking for a technically strong and adaptable engineer who enjoys varied work and is comfortable stepping across disciplines when required. You’ll hold a minimum of an HNC, Engineering Degree or NQF Level 4 equivalent, and you’ll already have experience working in a disciplined engineering role mechanical, electrical, C&I or civil within an industrial plant environment. You’ll bring a strong understanding of engineering standards and demonstrate sound judgement in applying them across safety‑critical activities. You’ll also have the confidence to contribute to design reviews, produce high‑quality documentation and support safe commissioning or decommissioning work. Experience in nuclear or project engineering is beneficial, as is familiarity with risk assessment methodology, CDM responsibilities, Safety Rules or a Quality Management System though these can be developed on the job if you bring the right foundation and drive to learn.
