We’re partnering with a leading global banking organisation seeking an experienced Senior Storage Engineer to join a critical infrastructure team responsible for enterprise storage and backup technologies across the EMEA region. This is a highly technical, hands‑on role supporting business‑critical data platforms within a complex, regulated environment.
Working closely with the Head of Storage, you’ll play a key role in maintaining, improving and evolving the organisation’s storage, backup and archival infrastructure across both banking and securities environments.
Key Responsibilities- Provide SME‑level support and technical ownership across enterprise storage infrastructure including block, file and object storage platforms
- Manage and maintain critical storage and backup environments ensuring high availability, resilience and SLA adherence
- Support strategic storage initiatives including infrastructure roadmap, architecture standards and platform improvements
- Design, deploy and upgrade storage technologies across production environments
- Monitor system performance, capacity and operational health, identifying areas for optimisation and improvement
- Support backup and recovery operations including data restores, failed backup remediation and policy compliance
- Work closely with infrastructure, risk, controls and project teams to support business and regulatory requirements
- Develop automation and scripting solutions to improve operational efficiency
- Participate in change management processes and represent storage changes at CAB meetings where required
- Act as deputy to the Head of Storage when required, supporting workload prioritisation and team oversight
- Strong enterprise storage engineering experience within large‑scale or regulated environments
- Deep technical knowledge of block, file, object storage and SAN technologies including: EMC Unity, EMC VNX, EMC ECS, EMC Isilon, EMC PowerStore, Pure Storage, Cisco MDS fabric switches
- Working knowledge of enterprise backup technologies including EMC Networker and IBM TSM
- Experience supporting highly available, mission‑critical infrastructure environments
- Scripting and automation experience using PowerShell or Python highly desirable
- Exposure to Rubrik advantageous
- Strong understanding of operational support, capacity management, incident management and change control processes
