A leading Global Investment Banking organisation is seeking an experienced Product Controller to join its Finance function on a 6-month contract. This role sits at the heart of Front Office support, playing a critical role in ensuring accurate profit & loss reporting, robust valuation control, and strong financial governance across multiple asset classes. The successful candidate will work closely with Trading, Risk, and Finance teams, contributing to both business-as-usual control activities and ongoing process and systems enhancements.
Key Responsibilities for Product Controller:
- Produce and review daily and periodic P&L reporting, including detailed analysis and commentary on revenue drivers, risk parameter movements, and trading activity.
- Perform Independent Price Verification (IPV) and valuation analysis, including validation of market data, model inputs, and fair value adjustments.
- Calculate, review, and maintain valuation adjustments and reserves, ensuring methodologies remain appropriate and compliant with regulatory and accounting standards.
- Provide quality assurance and sign-off of P&L and balance sheet data used for management reporting, governance forums, and decision-making.
- Review balance sheet and trade population reconciliations to ensure completeness, accuracy, and valuation integrity.
- Support new product approvals, complex transactions, and business initiatives by ensuring appropriate booking, valuation, and reserve methodologies.
- Act as a key point of contact for external auditors, regulators, and internal stakeholders, supplying financial analysis and control evidence as required.
- Identify, elevate, and help resolve control issues, contributing to a strong risk and control culture.
- Participate in projects, system implementations, and process improvements to enhance efficiency and control frameworks.
- Maintain clear documentation of control activities, methodologies, and procedures to ensure auditability and operational resilience.
Key Skills & Experience for Product Controller:
- Proven experience in a Product Control role within an Investment Banking front office environment.
- Exposure to multiple asset classes; experience in Credit products is advantageous.
- Strong understanding of P&L attribution, valuation methodologies, reserves, and financial controls.
- Experience working closely with Front Office, Risk, and Finance stakeholders in a fast-paced environment.
- Solid knowledge of regulatory and accounting standards relevant to investment banking.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to produce clear, insightful commentary for senior stakeholders.
- Systems experience with Murex and Business Objects is desirable.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to operate effectively within global teams.
