We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Team Leader to support our Bedford operation. This is a hands-on role where you will help drive performance across the warehouse, maintain 5S and Opertune standards, support quality checks, and coach team members to achieve their best. Acting as a key link between the team and management, you will step up in the Supervisor's absence and ensure targets for volume, quality, and efficiency are consistently met, helping Whistl deliver the highest quality and most cost-effective service for our customers.
What Youβll Be Doing
- People & Resource Management
- Lead by example, demonstrating professionalism in all interactions.
- Support the coordination of shift activities, helping to prioritise and delegate tasks effectively.
- Monitor attendance, conduct, and performance in line with company policies.
- Train and coach team members from induction onwards to support their development.
- Assist in the creation of team performance reports (KPIs, absence, skills, H&S, etc.).
- Step up to run the shift in the Supervisor's absence.
- Communication
- Support daily team briefs and debriefs to ensure clarity of goals and expectations.
- Help build a strong team culture through effective collaboration and information sharing.
- Process Management
- Maintain and encourage adherence to all standard operating procedures.
- Drive Opertune and 5S initiatives throughout the operation.
- Support quality checks to ensure compliance with processes and standards.
- Ensure full compliance with regulatory requirements, including H&S, Mail Integrity, CDG, and Data Protection.
- Accurately record and report any incidents, accidents, or near misses.
- Act as a key support during the Supervisor's absence.
Requirements
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Confidence in giving feedback and influencing team performance.
- Good organisational skills with the ability to work accurately under pressure.
- Competence in Microsoft Excel and Outlook.
- For some Supervisory roles, a forklift truck (FLT) Licence, First Aid, Fire Warden or relevant Health & Safety Training will be required.
Experience & Qualifications
- Ideally 1+ years experience within a 3PL, FMCG or Downstream Access environment.
Shift & Additional
- Shift - Monday to Friday 11 pm to 07:30 am. Flexibility to work across different shifts and occasionally different locations.
