About Us: A family run company, Magnetic Shields Limited (MSL) is the industry leader in the design and manufacture of magnetically shielded products and rooms. Our brand new factory unit and fibre laser with full stock automation more than doubles our production capacity and throughput. About the role: We are leading specialists in the design, manufacture and installation of bespoke magnetic shielding solutions and magnetically shielded rooms, and have an expanding customer base throughout the UK, Europe, USA and Asia. With a manufacturing facility in Staplehurst, Kent fully equipped with the latest technology, we are able to provide our customers with the highest level of service and quality. All of our manufacturing processes, including heat treatment, are integrated in our production plant.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the running of our quality management system, reviewing current quality processes and implementing new process improvements.
Role and responsibilities:
- Maintaining and improving the Quality Management System (QMS) to ISO 9001 standard
- Managing relationships with customers and external bodies regarding the QMS
- Coaching process owners in good QMS practice to enable them to deliver excellence
- Managing the Quality Team
Key Tasks/Duties of this role:
- Improving/maintaining/updating the Quality Management System (QMS) in line with ISO 9001 standards
- Improving/maintaining the internal audit program for monitoring the QMS
- Serve as the primary interface for all external audit activities (accreditation bodies & customers)
- Improving/maintaining document control in line with ISO 9001 standards
- Guiding colleagues through process change and achieving buy in to new processes
- Engaging all areas of the business to eliminate process failures and implement robust controls to ensure failures are not repeated through process change and management information reporting
- Presenting relevant information to the management team to show progress improvements/opportunities/risk
- Leading regular management review meetings of the QMS
- Raising internal and external non-conformance investigations and subsequent corrective and preventative actions
- Assisting the quality technicians with any technical or quality related queries
- Ensuring regular team meetings and team 1:1 are carried out, ensuring effective communication between team members & other departments
- Actively supporting, guiding quality team training
- Actively supporting and contributing to continuous improvement within MSL as a whole
- Overseeing all quality functions at the Horley Site
Essential skills:
- Proven improvements around service delivery in line with ISO 9001 standards
- Experience working within a manufacturing and engineering background
- Proven Quality Managerial experience
- Experience of managing quality targets and achieving goals
- Experience of raising non-conformance reports and conducting subsequent investigations/actions
- Experience of FAI & report writing
- A good understanding of reading engineering drawings, projections and tolerances
- Experience of working within a quality management standard (minimum to ISO 9001)
- Good communication skills, must be able to relay information internally & externally
- Strong organisational skills with an attention to detail and a focused approach to work
- Proficient in IT skills and use of ERP systems
- Team player possessing good inter-personal skills with the ability to communicate to staff at all levels
Desirable Skills:
- Experience of CMM
- Experience of hardness and tensile testing
- Experience of using Process Flow & FMEA Processes
- Experience of fine limit sheet metal inspection
- Knowledge of LEAN manufacturing techniques, such as 5s or Six Sigma
- SPC/PQR analysis
- Knowledge of 8D reports and root cause analysis
- Knowledge of FMEA analysis
- Previous experience in working with ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 standards would be advantageous
- Experience of ERP systems
