Magna Vitae Trust for Leisure and Culture is seeking a skilled and motivated Stage Technician to join the technical team at the Embassy Theatre in Skegness. This is a key role in delivering high-quality technical support for a wide range of productions and events, both in-house and with external touring companies.

Magna Vitae Trust for Leisure and Culture is seeking a skilled and motivated Stage Technician to join the technical team at the Embassy Theatre in Skegness. This is a key role in delivering high-quality technical support for a wide range of productions and events, both in-house and with external touring companies.

About the Role

Working within a small and dedicated team, the Stage Technician is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining technical equipment across disciplines including lighting, sound, AV, staging, and rigging. The role involves regular work at height, physically demanding tasks, and the ability to work under pressure in a live performance environment.

You will also contribute to the ongoing development and maintenance of the venue’s technical infrastructure and may support external events such as the Arts Council NPO-awarded SO Festival.

Key Responsibilities

  • Delivering technical services for all theatre productions, events, and conferences
  • Operating and maintaining lighting, sound, AV, and rigging systems
  • Assisting with venue set-ups including seating and stage layouts
  • Ensuring health and safety compliance at all times
  • Communicating effectively with visiting crews, artists, and internal teams
  • Supporting external event delivery as required

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Previous experience in a similar venue or live performance setting
  • Strong working knowledge of theatre technology: lighting, sound, stage rigging, AV
  • Basic electrical knowledge, including PAT testing
  • Comfortable working at height and performing manual tasks
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to work flexibly, including evenings, weekends, and bank holidays

Desirable

  • Experience with Digico SD9 and/or Avolites lighting desks
  • IPAF access platform qualification
  • First Aid training
