Job Responsibilities

  • Reporting to the Maintenance Coordinator, this position is responsible for all aspects of planning and scheduling planned maintenance & facilities activities, including job plans, material lists, quotation requests, purchase requisitioning, kitting, and scheduling, to maximise the efficiency of the maintenance & facilities department engineers.
  • The Planning & Scheduling engineer will also have the responsibility of facilitating and supporting maintenance & facilities asset strategies.
  • To ensure health, safety, and environmental policies, procedures, and standards are always followed.
  • To ensure quality policies, procedures, and standards are always followed.
  • To manage work order requests: ensuring work order details are accurate, such as job type, priority, description, etc.
  • To plan work orders: ensuring materials, resource, equipment, and methods are documented and sourced.
  • To kit work orders: ensuring materials, equipment, and methods are prepared.
  • To schedule work orders: ensuring equipment availability opportunities are maximised, and all stakeholders are aligned to the schedule.
  • To utilise the functionality of the CMMS to improve engineer efficiency.
  • To facilitate and support root cause analysis activities to improve maintenance strategies.
  • To facilitate and support asset maintenance strategy reviews to optimise planned maintenance activities.
  • To train and coach others on maintenance best practice.
  • To apply 5S methodology.
  • To align with departmental and site goals.
  • To support with ad‑hoc projects as and when required.
  • To support the maintenance & facilities department reactive teams if and when required.

Essential Experience

  • Time served apprentice in mechanical and/or electrical engineering or equivalent.
  • Minimum level 3 engineering qualification in related discipline or equivalent.
  • Strict attention to detail and a right‑first‑time approach.
  • Experience planning electrical, mechanical, pneumatic and/or hydraulic preventative and corrective activities.
  • Experience developing or improving planned preventative maintenance strategies.
  • Proficient in Microsoft (especially Word, Excel, Power Point).
  • To be able to communicate technical issues to non‑technical staff.
  • 5S experience.

Desirable Experience

  • Qualification in both electrical & mechanical discipline.
  • Experience working in a reliability engineering role.
  • Experience using and improving CMMS.
  • Educated to HNC/HND in related discipline.
  • Experience within the castings sector.
  • Health and safety accreditation.
  • Experience of tier 1 automotive supply.
  • Experience with die casting machines, furnaces, hydraulic presses, conveyors, assembly cells, ABB robots, Siemens PLCs, CNCs, etc.
