The Lead Shipper & Receiving role is responsible for effectively planning all customer shipments supporting the customer’s schedules, using the business systems to ensure all required paperwork and labels in accordance with the Customer Guidelines, guiding the material handling team with the picking of inventory to achieve the customer’s delivery schedule. The role also coordinates all supplier receipts and the timely booking in of all documentation, reporting out discrepancies and monthly reports in line with business KPIs. The role coordinates with customers and their chosen third‑party logistics providers to ensure material is collected on time and transported safely, and manages import and exportation of supplier and customer products to and from Magna CCUK, ensuring through CCUK Customs broker that all documentation is prepared and accompanied with all goods delivered and shipped through the CCUK facility.
Key Role Responsibilities
- Responsible for the Receiving & Shipping team to ensure all material goods are receipted and shipped and processed from stock to the Magna Quality Standards (MQS) and TS/IATF.
- All shipping paperwork is correct and advance shipping notifications are transmitted fully and comply with customer guidelines.
- MAFACT standards are applied in the Shipping Area: sections 4.3, 4.9, 4.10.
- Lead & develop the Shipping Team – personal development in line with business objectives and department KPIs.
- Customer damaged packaging is tagged, stored separately, and reported to the customer using the customer portal; conduct monthly customer packaging counts comparing against the ERP system and report or investigate discrepancies.
- Document control of non‑BOM material sold to third‑party providers – waste & scrap.
- Avoidance of wrong deliveries – lead root cause analysis in the event of a customer delivery discrepancy.
- SPEEDY disputes are investigated with the customer and evidence provided.
- Obtain quotes, book and track shipments for the site using assigned third‑party logistics providers in the event of any freight requests.
- Support the goods receiving process, accepting deliveries and booking into stock.
- Ensure all import & export documentation is received on time to perform the RPA customs data entry for duty declaration, using the CCUK customs broker.
- Ensure all EU deliveries to customers are accompanied with export documentation and RPA with customs broker is accurate and duties declared.
- All corresponding import & export documentation is stored in a logical order and is presentable for finance and external auditors to review.
- All documentation relating to imports and exports is validated and information is logged appropriately to administer the customs audits with HMRC.
- Perform any other duties as may be requested by the MP&L supervisor.
- Promote the company’s HSE policies across the department and plant.
Essential Experience
- Strong background in using SAP for shipping.
- UK and international shipping knowledge.
- Manufacturing and/or automotive sector experience.
- Excellent Microsoft skills.
- Excellent communicator to customers, suppliers and internally to all levels.
Desirable Experience
- Lean trained.
- Higher education / HNC / degree qualified (manufacturing / business).
- PowerPoint proficient.
