Job Responsibilities:
- Plan own assembly tooling and automation project work streams to be delivered by the department.
- Ensure own functional objectives are met and internal and external customers are regularly informed of progress.
- Ensure own functional reporting is completed robustly and on time.
- Support through supplier nomination process.
- Customer product development liaison.
- PCR launch, completion and follow-up.
- Manage the assembly tooling and automation development and manufacture.
- OK to Ship (Tapestry) review of documents, upload and approval.
- Support other project work streams.
- Support process optimisation and continuous improvement project work streams.
- Any other duties assigned as deemed appropriate are carried out and completed as required.
- Completion of the optimisation phase of assigned new project(s).
- Manage assigned internal labour and sub-contractors assigned to projects.
- Control associated sub-contractors using internal control procedures.
- Develop engineered solutions and work streams to deliver downtime reduction and Gross Cycle Time (GCT) improvement.
- Identify and eliminate recurring assembly fixture, automation and fixing related downtime issues.
- Support equipment suppliers to ensure robust and reliable processes through the process concept and equipment design phase.
- Coordinate Run at Rate and commissioning of new and insource assembly equipment/fixtures.
- Support improvements, standards development, design and industrialisation of equipment, fixtures and associated equipment.
- Provide support during equipment buy off events at the integrator (UK/Overseas) and Home Plants.
- Provide plant representation during functional project reviews to ensure project launch activities are carried out in line with CPMPS.
- Support project lessons learnt events.
- Network internally and externally to gain knowledge of latest benchmarks and new innovations.
- Support route cause analysis into assembly defects.
- Support continuous improvement activities.
- Identify opportunities for Value Analysis / Value Engineering (VA/VE) and support customer Total Value stream Mapping (TVM) activity.
- Identify potential tooling related R&D projects and work streams.
- Support the creation of project charter documents report status and progress against the deliverables and time frame.
- Attend all necessary meetings and ensure adequate reporting of function.
