Position Summary
Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor (Upstream), the Maintenance Team Leader (Upstream) is responsible for the coordination and leadership of the maintenance team currently on shift. They will liaise with the production team leader and supervisor to achieve manufacturing targets specifically around plant availability and PM completion.
Role Responsibilities
- Promoting the companies HSE policies across the department and plant and adhering to all health and safety environmental requirements.
- Ensuring a safe working environment through use of static and dynamic risk assessments.
- Managing contractors safely.
- Responding swiftly to close out accidents, near misses, environmental issues, and internal “don’t walk by” actions.
- Ensuring the maintenance schedule (CMs, CIs and PMs) is adhered to and reporting back on activities away from plan.
- Ensuring equipment availability is in line with departmental targets.
- Managing team holidays and absence in line with company policy and procedure.
- Ensuring that plant faults and defects are swiftly remedied to ensure the smooth running of the facility.
- To engage in root cause analysis of repeat/major breakdowns and provide reports with suggested improvements.
- To engineer out previous issues following a continuous improvement mind-set and methodology.
- To support internal customers with technical issues.
- Attending training when required and adhering to CCUK and Magna standards.
- Applying 5S methodology in work area and wider factory.
- Driving departmental and company goals and objectives.
- Promote and set a positive example in a manner that reflects the Magna Employees Charter, Corporate Constitution and Divisions Mission, Vision, Objectives, Goals and Values.
- To support management with ad-hoc projects as and when required.
- To coach, mentor and undertake annual appraisals of team members.
- Identifying and facilitating the training requirements of your team.
Essential Experience
- Previous experience in a maintenance function.
- Time served apprentice in mechanical and/or electrical engineering.
- Willingness to multi- skill.
- Ability to delegate to skilled workers.
- Report writing skills.
- Experience in fault finding from electrical, hydraulic & pneumatic schematics.
- Good Microsoft package (especially word, excel, power point)
- To be able to communicate technical issues and conduct start of shift briefs.
- 5’s experience.
Desirable Experience
- Qualification in both electrical & mechanical discipline
- Educated to HNC/HND in related discipline.
- Experience within the Castings sector.
- Health and safety accreditation.
- Experience of Tier 1 Automotive supplier.
- Previous experience leading a technical team.
- Experience of maintaining the following processes:
- Vacuum Pumps
- Die Casting Machines (or Injection Moulding)
- Hydraulic Presses
- Siemens TIA Portal (PLC)
- Conveyors
- Melting Furnaces (Gas Burners)
- ABB IRC5 Robotics
