This position requires a time-served CNC Tech/process Engineer with a proven track record and experience in machining aluminium diecast components on high-speed 5-axis machines. Reporting directly to the Assembly Engineering Manager, the CNC Tech/process Engineer must be able to work independently while liaising with Production, Quality, and Engineering teams to resolve any issues affecting CNC operation.

The CNC Tech/Process Engineer is responsible for:

  • Proving new programs, commissioning new fixtures and cutting tools.
  • Monitoring part quality and dimensional reports to maintain optimum machining conditions.
  • Training and developing setter/operators across the shift pattern.
  • Performing machining troubleshooting and TPMs.
  • Driving improvements on processes linked with CNC.
  • Supporting production on a daily basis.
  • Maintaining hydraulic fixture operation, clamping repeatability, and machining position to casting.
  • Changing tools, tracking tool life, and investigating tool breakages.
  • Monitoring part quality, adjusting offsets, and improving process capability.
  • Developing and maintaining process documentation and assisting in the generation of SWIs.
  • Setting procedures and standards.
  • Driving TPM and 5S.
  • Training, mentoring, and guiding others on how to operate equipment safely and correctly.
  • Other related duties as directed by the Process Engineering Manager or Process Engineers.
  • Promoting the company’s HSE policies across the department and plant.

Essential qualifications include:

  • Apprentice served or formal college certification.
  • Proven CNC machine setting in a JIT production environment.
  • 5-axis high-speed machining of aluminium castings.
  • Demonstrating suitable problem-solving techniques.
