Job Responsibilities:

  • ERP Systems Support & Development
    • Provide administration, support, maintenance, and enhancement of the QAD 2014SE ERP environment.
    • Work with business users to gather requirements and deliver scalable ERP solutions.
    • Support ERP modules including:
      • Manufacturing
      • Planning
      • Inventory Management
      • Purchasing
      • Sales Order Processing
      • Logistics
      • Finance interfaces
    • Involvement in system upgrades, patches, testing, and deployment activities.
  • Database Administration
    • Maintain and optimise Progress OpenEdge databases.
    • Perform routine database monitoring, backup management, and disaster recovery activities.
  • Integration & EDI Management
    • Support and maintain EDI transactions with customers, suppliers, and logistics partners.
    • Troubleshoot EDI communication issues and data mapping errors.
    • Develop and support system integrations between QAD and external applications.
    • Collaborate with third-party vendors and customers during onboarding and implementation activities.
  • Linux Systems Administration
    • Administer Linux servers supporting QAD and associated applications.
    • Monitor system health, performance, security, and capacity.
  • Business Solutions & Continuous Improvement
    • Identify opportunities to automate manual business processes.
    • Participate in digital transformation initiatives.
    • Produce technical documentation, support procedures, and knowledge articles.
    • Collaborate with IT, operations, and functional teams to improve system utilisation and business performance.
  • Project Delivery
    • Participate in IT projects from requirements gathering through implementation and support.
    • Provide technical leadership on ERP-related initiatives.
    • Support testing, user training, and change management activities.
    • Coordinate with external consultants and software vendors where required.

Essential Experience:

  • Technical Skills:
    • Minimum 5 years' experience supporting and developing QAD 2014SE.
    • Strong experience with:
      • Progress OpenEdge / ABL (4GL).
      • Progress Database Administration and Maintenance.
      • Linux administration and troubleshooting.
      • EDI systems and integrations.
      • Customer and Supplier Portal support.
      • Experience supporting manufacturing ERP processes.
      • Strong understanding of enterprise application integration concepts.
      • Database performance tuning and optimisation experience.
      • Experience with backup, recovery, and disaster recovery procedures.
  • Business Skills:
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
    • Ability to engage effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
    • Experience translating business requirements into technical solutions.
    • Excellent communication and documentation skills.
    • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Desirable Experience:

  • Automotive industry experience (OEM, Tier 1 or Tier 2 supplier).
  • Microsoft SQL Server administration and development.
  • Microsoft Platforms: Power Apps, Power Automate, Power BI.
  • Experience with API integration and web services.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing execution systems (MES).
  • ITIL foundation knowledge.
  • Experience within a manufacturing environment, preferably automotive, including familiarity with:
    • Lean manufacturing processes.
    • EDI standards such as EDIFACT, VDA and Odette.
    • Customer scheduling and sequencing.
    • Supply chain and logistics operations.
    • Production planning and inventory management.
    • Quality and traceability requirements.

Personal Attributes:

  • Experience within a manufacturing environment, preferably automotive, including familiarity with:
    • Lean manufacturing processes.
    • EDI standards such as EDIFACT, VDA and Odette.
    • Customer scheduling and sequencing.
    • Supply chain and logistics operations.

Work Environment:

  • Plant conditions necessitate exposure to heat, cold, dust, hot objects, and loud noises within our manufacturing environment. Full Health and Safety training and PPE provided for all conditions.
  • The successful candidate must follow defined escalation process and take appropriate action relating to poor Quality, Cost & Delivery performance.
  • There is a requirement to act on behalf of “the company” during internal, supplier and customer meetings, representing the company’s best interests at all times.
