Job Responsibilities:

  • Reporting to the Maintenance & Facilities Manager, the Weekend Maintenance Team Leader is responsible for the coordination and leadership of the maintenance team currently on shift.
  • Liaise with the production team leader to achieve manufacturing targets specifically around plant availability and PM completion.
  • Ensure equipment availability is in line with departmental targets for shift.
  • Manage team holidays for Maintenance Technicians on shift in line with company policy and procedure, seeking guidance from Line Manager when required.
  • Ensure that plant faults and defects are swiftly remedied to ensure the smooth running of the facility.
  • Engage in Root cause analysis of repeat / major breakdowns and provide reports with suggested improvements.
  • Engineer out previous issues following a continuous improvement mind-set and methodology.
  • Facilitate the PM schedules and make recommendations for improvement delegating through their team to ensure KPI’s on compliance.
  • Support the internal customers with technical issues including non-breakdown.
  • Comply with all corporate practice, procedures and policies in relation to Occupational Safety and Health administration rules (OSHA) while conducting maintenance processes.
  • Attend training when required and adhere to CCUK and Magna standards.
  • Apply 5S methodology in work area and wider factory.
  • Drive through Departmental and company goals/objectives.
  • Promote and set a positive example in a manner that reflects the Magna Employees Charter, Corporate Constitution and Divisions Mission, Vision, Objectives, Goals and Values.
  • Experience of Disciplinaries and Investigations.
  • Experience in PDR’s, PIP’s and Absence management.
  • Coach, mentor and undertake annual appraisals of team members.
  • Support management with ad-hoc projects as and when required.
  • Plan and organise work shifts for the timely completion of all maintenance activities.
  • Lead a team and delegate work functions to them.
  • Promote the companies HSE policies across the department and plant and adhere to all Health and Safety environmental requirements.
  • Organise job training activities for all team.

Essential experience:

  • Previous experience in a Maintenance function.
  • Time served apprentice in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
  • Willingness to multi-skill.
  • Ability to delegate to skilled workers.
  • Report writing skills.
  • Experience in fault finding from hydraulic & pneumatic schematics.
  • Good Microsoft package (especially: Word, Excel).
  • Ability to communicate technical issues and conduct start of shift briefs.
  • 5’s experience.

Desirable Experience:

  • Qualification in both electrical & mechanical discipline.
  • Educated to HNC/HND in related discipline.
  • Experience within the Castings sector.
  • Health and Safety accreditation.
  • Experience of Tier 1 Automotive supply.
  • Previous experience leading a technical team.
