The Role
Reporting directly to the General Manager, you'll take overall responsibility for the day-to-day management of the manufacturing operation, ensuring production runs safely, efficiently and to the highest quality standards.
You'll provide leadership across production and maintenance teams, ensuring targets are met while continually identifying opportunities to improve processes, reduce costs and maximise productivity.
This is a hands-on leadership role where you'll spend time on the shop floor as well as working strategically to support the company's long-term objectives.
Key Responsibilities
As Operations Manager, you will
- Lead the daily running of the manufacturing operation
- Inspire, motivate and develop production and maintenance teams
- Deliver production targets and operational KPIs
- Maximise efficiency through effective planning and resource management
- Ensure machinery and equipment are maintained to minimise downtime
- Champion a positive Health & Safety culture across the site
- Ensure compliance with all Health, Safety and Environmental legislation
- Maintain and enhance quality standards and production processes
- Drive Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives
- Monitor operational performance and analyse KPI data to identify opportunities for improvement
- Support budgeting, forecasting and operational cost control
- Oversee inventory planning and stock management
- Work closely with senior leadership to achieve wider business objectives
About You
You'll be an experienced Operations Manager or Manufacturing Manager with a proven track record of leading teams in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
You'll be someone who enjoys solving problems, improving processes and getting the best out of people.
You won't be afraid to roll your sleeves up when needed and will thrive in a role where no two days are the same.
You'll ideally have
- Previous experience in an Operations Manager, Manufacturing Manager or Production Manager position
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and develop teams
- Experience of delivering operational KPIs and driving business performance
- Excellent understanding of Health & Safety within a manufacturing environment
- Strong commercial awareness and a focus on continuous improvement
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Good IT skills and experience using operational reporting systems
- A practical, hands-on management style
Desirable
- Degree (or equivalent) in Manufacturing, Engineering, Operations or a related discipline
- NEBOSH or equivalent Health & Safety qualification
- Lean Manufacturing or Continuous Improvement qualification
