We are looking for a Homeless Support Worker to join our Worcester Day Centre team, providing practical, person-centred support to people experiencing homelessness, housing insecurity and multiple disadvantage, helping them stay safe, access the right services and work towards greater stability and independence.

At Maggs, we support people experiencing homelessness and severe disadvantage across Worcestershire. We provide practical support, specialist interventions and compassionate, person-centred services that promote dignity, safety and long-term change.
We are looking for a Homeless Support Worker to join our Worcester Day Centre team, providing high-quality support to people who are homeless, vulnerably housed or experiencing multiple disadvantage.
This is a varied and rewarding role combining day-centre support, one-to-one key work, practical assistance, advocacy and outreach. You will work alongside people to help them stay safe, access the right services, improve their wellbeing, build independence and work towards securing and sustaining accommodation.
You will work closely with colleagues across Maggs, local authorities, housing providers, health services, substance use and recovery services, Adult Social Care and voluntary and community organisations to ensure support is coordinated around each individual’s needs.
About The Role
The successful candidate will:
- Provide high-quality, person-centred support to people experiencing homelessness, housing insecurity or multiple disadvantage
- Support people to complete homelessness applications and access local housing registers
- Help people access substance use services, mental health and psychological support, GPs and wider health and wellbeing services
- Liaise with Adult Social Care and support access to Care Act Assessments where appropriate
- Provide benefits advice, advocacy and practical support to help people maximise income, meet essential needs and secure or sustain accommodation
- Support people to develop independent living skills, including budgeting, cooking, cleaning and managing day-to-day responsibilities
- Help people access training, volunteering, employment and meaningful activity
- Build positive and trusting relationships that support confidence, self-esteem and engagement
- Maintain up-to-date support plans and risk assessments
- Hold and manage an appropriate caseload, providing tailored one-to-one support face-to-face, digitally and by phone
- Undertake advocacy and agreed actions on behalf of service users to help them engage with services and progress towards independence
- Contribute to small-group activities, informal learning and peer-led opportunities
- Undertake assertive outreach to identify and engage people who are not currently accessing services
- Participate in outreach activity including street counts, audits, welfare checks and, where required, early or late outreach linked to local authority arrangements and SWEP
- Maintain accurate case records and contribute to data collection, KPI reporting and information sharing
- Attend relevant rough sleeper and local authority support meetings
- Work collaboratively with partner agencies to ensure coordinated support
The role is primarily based at Worcester Day Centre, but flexibility is important. You may be required to contribute to outreach and wider Maggs services in response to operational and service need. The JD specifically includes centre-based support, outreach, welfare checks and partnership working as part of the role.

Experience of supported housing, harm reduction, welfare benefits or small-scale budget management would be beneficial, alongside basic first aid skills. A relevant qualification in homelessness, care, supported housing or substance use is also desirable.
A full, clean driving licence and business-use insurance is desirable.
