You’ll be supporting small group sessions alongside our staff team — helping to create a positive, inclusive environment where people feel safe to take part at their own pace.
What you’ll be doing

- Helping staff facilitate small group sessions with service users
- Creating a welcoming, inclusive and non-judgemental environment
- Encouraging people to get involved in activities and build confidence
- Supporting safe use of tools and equipment
- Helping with setting up and packing down sessions
About the project
Our allotment project is designed to support people experiencing homelessness to:
- Improve mental and physical wellbeing
- Build confidence and self-esteem
- Develop practical skills (e.g. growing food, sustainability)
- Reduce isolation and increase social connection
- Access fresh, healthy produce
Sessions will run throughout the growing season, with opportunities to get involved regularly.
Time commitment
- Typically 1–2 sessions per week
- Sessions run on set days (e.g. Tuesdays and Fridays, afternoons)
- Around 2–3 hours per session
Who we’re looking for
You don’t need to be an expert gardener — we’re looking for people who are:
- Friendly, approachable and non-judgemental
- Reliable and committed
- Good at working with others
- Patient and encouraging
- Interested in supporting people experiencing homelessness
An interest in gardening or outdoor work is a bonus, but not essential.
