Description
As a Psychology Assistant within Maggie’s, you will actively support centre visitors to understand and articulate their cancer-related concerns. Through ongoing work with individuals, families, and groups, you will help them engage with and utilize Maggie’s psychosocial programme of support. Some evening and weekend work may be required.
Key Responsibilities
- Participate in the provision of an integrated programme of support for people affected by cancer. This involves ensuring visitors feel welcome and valued, their concerns are heard and understood, and forming ongoing relationships with visitors.
- Assist cancer support and psychology professionals in their care provision for people affected by cancer.
- Coordinate with colleagues to ensure appropriate internal referrals of centre visitors and their use of Maggie’s support programmes.

Skills, Knowledge & Expertise
- Undergraduate psychology degree.
- Relevant experience within oncology or palliative care.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Warm, empathetic manner, enthusiasm, flexibility, and willingness to develop skills in providing cancer support within an innovative, multidisciplinary programme.
- Ability to conduct initial assessments of visitors’ needs to assist support specialists in delivering tailored support.
- Ability to work well as part of a team and confidently work autonomously.
