As Legacy and In-Memory Manager you will be responsible for leading your team to drive transformational change, through the delivery of our legacy and in‑memory growth strategy.
In this role you will set objectives and oversee team activity to deliver the entire legacy journey with the aim of achieving significant long‑term growth in revenue to support our ambitious plans to bring Maggie’s cancer care to everyone who needs us. You will work collaboratively with teams across Maggie’s to engage them in the importance of legacy and in‑memory giving, manage external agencies and suppliers to deliver excellent work on time and to budget, and manage end‑to‑end, multi‑channel campaigns delivered through colleagues and agencies.
Key responsibilities:
- Lead the team in delivering the legacy and in‑memory growth strategy.
- Effectively utilise insight to inform our creative and messaging approach for legacy fundraising.
- Lead and brief on fundraising collateral for legacy and in‑memory income promotion.
- Champion legacy and in‑memory fundraising across Maggie’s fundraising and programme teams.
- Devise and implement a strategic approach to communications with supporters giving in this way, creating clear supporter journeys.
- Work with the database team to ensure effective, accurate reporting and forecasting.
- Ensure implementation of effective stewardship for legacy and in‑memory donors at all stages of their experience with Maggie’s, and engage and steward executors and families.
- Direct and brief the communications plan for marketing legacies and in‑memory to defined audiences.
- Monitor market trends, undertake competitor analysis and keep up to date with sector developments to capitalise on opportunities in the external market.
- Prepare progress reports on objectives, budgets and targets.
Skills, knowledge and expertise:
- At least five years’ experience in charity fundraising.
- Substantial experience in legacy and in‑memory marketing and fundraising.
- Demonstrable experience of different marketing techniques and platforms.
- A motivating, empowering leader who gets the best from a high‑performing team.
- An engaging individual who builds strong connections and drives internal collaboration across the organisation.
- Ability to influence colleagues and drive through new strategic initiatives.
- Excellent written and verbal communication – from writing business plans, supporter communications and internal reports.
