We are seeking a talented and experienced Clinical Safety Officer to join a dynamic team that is responsible for overseeing and managing the clinical risk management processes for Magentus’ health IT software applications. Reporting to the Head of Quality and Clinical Safety, the successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that the products and services provided to our clients meet the required safety standards. With excellent communication skills and stakeholder management you will be continuously consulting and collaborating with the Product, Development, Implementation, Support, and Quality teams, as well as client sites, to ensure clinical safety risks are appropriately identified, documented, assessed and mitigated.

Key Responsibilities of the role:
  • Write, manage and maintain key clinical risk management documentation (e.g. plans, procedures, Hazard Logs, Incident Registers, Safety case reports).
  • Perform clinical risk assessment of various inputs (such as product change requests, customer support tickets) to ensure potential clinical risks and safety incidents are identified and managed appropriately.
  • Ensure all identified product safety-related risks are formally documented, appropriately risk assessed and regularly reviewed.
  • Ensure risk controls are appropriately identified, prioritized, communicated, monitored and implemented.
  • With the support of Learning and Development ensure that all relevant staff have sufficient training pertinent to their role.
  • Prepare and deliver training on Clinical safety, as required.
  • Lead Clinical Advisory Group (CAG), as required.
  • Attend Change Advisory Board (CAB) meetings to advise on clinical risk related items.
  • Ensure own Clinical Safety knowledge is current with support from available NHSE and external training sources and curriculum.
  • Provide Clinical Safety documentation to customers via the Product Manager(s).
  • Chair Monthly incident meetings with Problem Manager, 3rd Line support.
  • Write safety/product notifications as/when required.
  • Review clinical risk management documents, prepared by other team members.
  • Perform, and/or participate in, investigations of actual or suspected clinical safety issues.
What experience do I need:
  • A degree level qualification in a healthcare related discipline.
  • Familiarity/experience ensuring compliance with DCB0129/DCB0160.
  • Experience performing clinical risk assessments.
  • Good level of understanding of Healthtech related clinical safety risks and considerations.
  • A sound understanding of the professional, ethical and legal requirements that underpin the health informatics environment.
  • Familiarity with the NHS environment, regulations and expectations.
Desirable:
  • Experience working in a Pathology or Radiology clinical setting.
  • Previous experience in a clinical safety officer role.
  • A relevant postgraduate qualification.
  • Experience in IT healthcare/clinical.
  • Formal Clinical risk management training.
