We are looking for the second member of our Platform Engineering team to build, scale and own the infrastructure that powers Magentic's AI procurement solution. We have a very ambitious product vision, but we’re early in our building journey and are looking for an experienced Platform Engineer to build a best in class infrastructure from the ground up. This is a rare opportunity to join early enough to help build a high-quality rocket ship, rather than rebuild it in flight.
We’re pushing the boundaries of AI with next-generation agentic systems that can manage entire procurement workflows. Our mission is to make global manufacturing supply chains robust to an ever-changing world - that’s a $3tn market opportunity.
If that’s not exciting enough - we’re backed by world-class investors including Sequoia Capital, and you’d be working along a super talented team which brings together expertise from OpenAI, Meta, Revolut, NASA and McKinsey (and that’s just the first 11 people!).
What You’ll Do- Ensure all our infrastructure is managed as IaC, no ClickOps!
- Shape a multi-tenant, multi-cloud platform (we deploy where our customers are) following IaC and GitOps best practices, while balancing speed, cost and security.
- Work with the development team to design processes for secure software delivery (GitHub workflows, AI agent tooling for reviews, security and compliance).
- Make our systems, both AI and non-AI, highly observable.
- Champion security, compliance and automation to turn them into an advantage, instead of friction.
- Have deep cloud mastery of Azure and/or AWS.
- Strong experience with containers and orchestration.
- Are an enthusiastic student/hobbyist of AI able to leverage agent-assisted development.
- Have managed production Kubernetes clusters and know kubectl like the palm of your hand.
- Have experience working with development teams to make their lives easier.
- Can monitor, debug and diagnose performance problems in production servers.
- Deliver quickly by differentiating good from perfect.
- Can communicate clearly with both engineers and business stakeholders.
- Experience designing self-hosted, cloud agnostic, AI/ML infrastructure.
- Infrastructure/platform experience in B2B settings, e.g.: Identity Federation.
At Magentic, we recognise and reward the talent that drives our success. We offer:
- Competitive Equity: play a real part in Magentic’s upside.
- A salary of £110,000-£120,000.
- Visa sponsorship available for this role.
- Enhanced parental leave.
- 25 days holiday excluding bank holidays, plus an extra day for our Christmas shutdown.
- In-office lunches provided.
- Salary sacrifice pension and nursery schemes.
- Hybrid London HQ (3-4 days in the office/customer site).
- Annual team retreat—a fully-funded off-site to recharge, bond, and build.
There are quite a few components because it’s really important that both we and you have all the information to make a great decision at this stage of our journey. We can move quickly through these stages, so let us know if you have any timelines we need to meet.
- Initial call (30 mins): this first step is an opportunity for you to hear more about Magentic and the role, and for us to learn more about how your experience aligns with the role.
- Take home task (2-3 hours): we’ll give you an exercise to demonstrate the key skills for the role.
- In-person interview: for the final step, we invite you to come meet the team in-person and work alongside us! We find this is the best way for candidates to get a sense of what working at Magentic is like. This day will include a culture interview, some live coding work and a discussion of your work with the team.
- CEO interview (30 mins): a chance for you to meet Robin, hear about his vision for the company - this may happen at the in-person, dependent on scheduling constraints.
