Health & Safety Supervisor / Coordinator
Reports To: Business Development Manager
Location: North West London
Salary: £40,000 – £50,000 (negotiable depending on experience).
Role Purpose
To lead and coordinate day‑to‑day Health & Safety management across the factory, ensuring compliance, safe working practices, and a proactive safety culture within a fast‑paced food production environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Health & Safety Compliance
- Support and maintain compliance with ISO 45001 standards.
- Keep up to date with all relevant HSE legislation and industry developments.
- Assist in the creation, review, and implementation of risk assessments and control measures.
- Maintenance & Safety Checks
- Ensure all scheduled maintenance and statutory safety checks are completed, including but not limited to:
- FLTs & pallet trucks
- Compactors & bailers
- Ovens, lifts, hoists
- IPAF scissor lift
- LEV systems
- Suppression systems
- Air conditioning
- Security systems & CCTV
- Emergency lighting
- P1 fire alarm system & bell testing
- Machine safety
- Boilers
- Refrigeration & chilling equipment
- Training & Induction
- Deliver on‑site Health & Safety training (e‑learning, inductions, COSHH, PPE).
- Support ongoing employee competency and refresher training.
- Legionella Management
- Oversee domestic water checks, flushing schedules, and sampling in line with the Legionella Management System.
- Audits & Inspections
- Conduct regular audits covering housekeeping, compliance, safety controls, and waste management.
- Identify hazards, recommend improvements, and follow up on corrective actions.
- Incident & Contractor Management
- Lead or support accident and incident investigations, including RIDDOR reporting where required.
- Manage contractor activities, including issuing and monitoring Permit to Work (e.g., Hot Work Permits).
- Administration & Support
- Complete relevant documentation including maintenance forms, service reports, and visitor records.
- Provide general support to Business Development and operational teams as required.
Skills, Knowledge & Experience
- Essential
- A baseline Health & Safety qualification.
- Experience in a similar Health & Safety role (food manufacturing preferred but not essential).
- Desirable
- NEBOSH Certificate.
- Additional training certifications such as First Aid, Fire Marshal, IPAF, or Food Safety.
- Experience delivering training to operational teams.
Working Hours & Environment
Monday to Friday, 8am–5pm (flexibility required for training or emergencies). Factory environment producing bread rolls only.
