Starting Salary £40,560/Per Annum (Temp to Perm Contract) 39 hour working week Covering East Anglia Reporting to: Fire Department Manager. Magenta Recruitment are looking for an experienced Passive Fire Surveyor / Supervisor in the East Anglia area to work with a property maintenance and refurbishment contractor located in Suffolk. Joining a growing Fire Safety team, delivering compliant surveying, technical oversight and supervision across live environments throughout East Anglia. This is a key technical role focused on fire doors, passive fire stopping and compartmentation systems. The right candidate will carry out detailed surveys across social housing, MOD, healthcare, care home and education sites, while providing guidance and support to Fire Door and Fire Stopping teams to ensure works meet compliant standards and best practice. The role involves both team-based and lone working, with travel across Norfolk, Suffolk, Essex, Cambridge, Peterborough and Hertfordshire.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct surveys of fire doors, passive fire stopping and compartmentation systems.
- Record all surveys accurately using the PlanRadar app (training provided).
- Supervise and provide technical support to Fire Door and Fire Stopping teams.
- Identify non-compliant installations and provide solutions in line with regulations and certification standards.
- Troubleshoot issues onsite and carry out minor remedial works where required (e.g. adjusting closers, changing locks, replacing FR letterboxes).
- Ensure all works align with FIRAS / BM TRADA requirements and current fire safety regulations.
- Maintain professional standards when working within occupied properties.
Required
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience as a Fire Door and/or Fire Stopping Surveyor.
- Strong knowledge of passive fire regulations, certification and compliance standards.
- Background as a Fire Door Installer or Fire Stopper (preferred).
- Familiarity with FIRAS and/or BM TRADA certification schemes (preferred).
- Experience using fire evidence or audit apps (e.g. PlanRadar, Bolster, CCS Systems, Site Audit Pro) – training provided.
- SSSTS or SMSTS (preferred).
- Full clean UK driving licence.
- Basic toolkit including hand tools and battery drill/driver.
- Professional, reliable and flexible approach with the ability to work independently and within a team.
- Strong interest in developing technical fire safety knowledge.
