Main Duties:
- Conduct pre-purchase feasibility studies and resolve planning conditions, including drainage feasibility and highway considerations.
- Perform flood risk assessments, with flood modelling undertaken by the in-house team.
- Produce detailed drawings and calculations for technical approval of adoptable highways and drainage systems, in compliance with relevant regulations.
- Prepare 3D ground models for volume calculations, cut and fill exercises, vertical road profiles, and other related tasks.
- Collaborate with colleagues to deliver multi-disciplinary projects and assist in assessing variations of cost and timescales.
- Represent the company at meetings, public exhibitions, planning committees, and public inquiries when required. Undertake site inspections as needed.
- Contribute to project management and control for suitable projects.
- Exercise due care and diligence in all aspects of engineering design and detailing.
Education & Experience:
- Relevant experience and a degree in a built environment discipline, with progress towards membership in the Institution of Civil Engineers or a similar professional body.
- Applicants with an HND/C or significant relevant experience are also welcomed.
Technical Skills:
- Experience with Flood Risk Assessments (FRAs), SuDS, and Pre-Planning Advice.
- Working knowledge of drainage and highway design, including S38, S278, and S104 agreements.
- Experience with building regulations for designing building drainage, SuDS, private external works, and ground levels.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD/Autodesk Civil 3D is essential.
- Experience with software like MicroDrainage WinDES, FLOW, Tuflow (optional), and HECRAS (optional).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office software packages, such as Excel and Word.
Competencies:
