Position SummaryMagellan Aerospace, Llay Wrexham has an exciting opportunity for a Skilled Fettler.Full time permanent position An average of 42 hours per week (24/7 shift pattern, including day & night shifts)Job location: Llay, Wrexham, LL12 0PB.Unionised site – works in partnership with Unite the Union.The job holder will be responsible for ensuring the post machining operation of benching to the required specification (including de-burring, fettle, buffing, filing, etc.)Perks and BenefitsA company culture that promotes work life balanceAccess to mental health supportBusiness performance related bonus Career development opportunitiesCommitment to continued learning and developmentLong Service AwardsEnhanced Holiday Entitlement based on length of serviceFree parking25% off local gym membershipEssential Responsibilities Bench OperationsEnsure correct benching of components, including removal of sharp edges, cleaning of holes, using an orbital sanders, and hand de-burring to drawing and SOPEnsure fettling of components to achieve ‘as drawn’ featuresPart mark or ident product as per specifications/instructions providedProvide rework rectification to any parts following machining mismatches to engineering drawings or should parts not meet Inspection standardsAccuracy of PaperworkProvide accurate cycle time for all products with operations requiredCross check the prior operations on job cards ensuring they are completed prior to starting any operations and alert Team Lead if any variancesReport and complete non-conformance reports for any product that does not meet specificationProvide accurate information for the next shift if any deviation to production schedule to ensure production targets are achievedGeneralWork with a minimum amount of supervision whilst maintaining expected levels of productivityContinually review working practices to remove and reduce waste and non- value added activitiesActively support and contribute to continuous improvement and lean manufacturingPositively support team work and circulation of experience within the workforceHousekeeping & Health + SafetyUndertake daily checks and maintain air tools/equipment as per work instructions provided – reporting any failures or corrective maintenance requirements whilst maintaining responsibility for secure storage of tools in tool boxWork in a safe manner in compliance with the Health & Safety policy. Report and log all Health & Safety incidents that occur.Maintain good housekeeping in work areaPosition RequirementsQualification, skills and experience:Demonstration of basic numeracy to read measuring equipmentAbility to interpret engineering drawingsRelevant experience or an industry qualification demonstrating use of power/air tools and bench/fettle processesWorking experience within manufacturing environment or similar environmentCompetency demonstrated in use of an MRP system like EFACS or similar operating systemWorking knowledge of specifications, SOP’s and Work InstructionsKey Competencies: Hand eye co-ordination for prolonged periodsHigh degree of judgement and decision making Attention to detail and diligence (right first time)Work with minimum supervision following instructionInitiative in time management and methodSignificant levels of concentration requiredGood verbal communicator Versatility and flexibility to support job requirementsAbout us:Magellan Aerospace is a global, integrated aerospace company that provides complex assemblies and systems solutions to aircraft and engine manufacturers, defence and space agencies worldwide.
