Magellan Aerospace, Llay Wrexham has an exciting opportunity for Semi‑Skilled and Skilled Fitters.
Responsibilities
- Ensure all tooling is present and of an acceptable standard prior to use and report any issues through the SQDCP process and maintain tooling in use.
- Ensure that all supporting documentation is maintained and used where provided to ensure the correct assembly of parts e.g. Visual Aids, SOPs, drawings, specifications.
- Responsible for the completion of all aspects of related operational documentation.
- Ensure the mixing and use of sealants in line with traceability requirements, storage requirements and use‑by dates.
- Responsible for cleaning and ensuring part is of an acceptable standard before submitting to inspection.
- Identify when things deviate from standard and seek advice from approved personnel to rectify the issue.
- Report all component/machine non‑conformances using the appropriate forms to the team leader or quality inspector.
- Be active in identifying improvements within assembly processes.
- Ensure all measuring equipment is calibrated.
- Verify parts are correct to job card and processed following customer specifications.
- Identify any failures with parts, complete NCR forms and escalate to the line manager for rectification work.
- Ensure processes and procedures are followed to ensure all tasks are performed efficiently and to the required quality standard.
- Comply with relevant Environment, Health and Safety legislation and company policies, procedures and safe working systems.
- Cross‑check that all prior operations have been completed prior to commencing this operation.
Qualifications
- NVQ Level 3 Mechanical Manufacturing Engineering – Fitting and Assembly, or equivalent.
- Minimum 3 years' experience in a similar job.
- Able to identify components and select the correct tooling/jigging media and carry out a given operation in compliance with engineering drawings in multi‑disciplines.
- GCSE or equivalent including Maths & English.
- Good verbal and written communication.
- Ability to read and understand customer specifications, drawings and visual aids.
- Physical element to this role: lifting parts to and from a work area bench.
