Full time permanent39 hours per weekJob location: Llay, Wrexham, LL12 0PBUnionised site – works in partnership with Unite the UnionThe Quality Engineer will play a key role in the day-to-day management, monitoring and continuous improvement of manufacturing quality performance within their designated production unit(s).

The role will work closely with Operations, Engineering, Inspection and Quality Assurance to ensure product and process requirements are met and quality performance is continually improved.

engineering reference materialsEnsure relevant quality and inspection reference documentation is clear, current and available to production and inspection personnelInspection stamp controlResponsible for issue, scope control and withdrawal of inspection stamps in line with the latest inspection stamp control processSupport activities to measure inspector competency to determine stamp issue, scope control and withdrawalThis includes keeping the inspection exam up to date in line with latest inspection SOPs and ensuring that the exam answers are kept confidentialAttend MRB meetings and support NCR activitiesAttend daily MRB meeting for the production areaSupport NCR/8D investigationsTrain others how to conduct NCR/8D investigations and to use the latest issue formsSupport the timely closure of NCRs and corrective actions, ensuring appropriate evidence is available to demonstrate effective resolutionCollate scrap / quarantine dataMaintain data of scrap / quarantine for designated production unit to report dailyAnalyse trends and identify opportunities to reduce scrap, rework and quarantine within the designated production areaSet up, maintain and conduct containment auditsSet up containment audits for the designated production unit to confirm containment actions implemented are being carried out effectivelyMaintain containment audits in line with latest containments/Quality Alerts/One Point LessonsConduct containment audits at designated intervalsEscalate any failures in containment and ensure appropriate corrective actions are initiatedPFMEA, Control Plans and FAIR / LAIR activitiesKey involvement in multi-disciplined PFMEA teamsSupport the development and review of PFMEAs and Control Plans to ensure identified product and process risks are appropriately controlledPlan, coordinate and lead FAIR activities in accordance with applicable customer and regulatory requirementsCoordinate the required inspection activities, dimensional results, material/certification evidence, photographs and supporting documentation required to complete FAIR packagesReview FAIR documentation for completeness and accuracy and coordinate the resolution of any outstanding issues prior to submission/approvalSupport Delta/Partial FAIR and LAIR activities where requiredCreate and distribute reports for FAIR activitiesQuality Management Systems and ComplianceSupport the development, implementation and continuous improvement of Quality Management System processes within the manufacturing environmentEnsure adherence to applicable customer and regulatory requirements, including AS9100, NADCAP and customer-specific requirementsSupport the implementation and maintenance of quality procedures, work instructions and processes within the designated production areasIdentify opportunities for improvement within the Quality Management System and manufacturing processesAuditingConduct internal audits and process auditsSupport product, process and containment audits within designated production areasIdentify, document and support the resolution of audit findings and opportunities for improvementQuality Performance / KPIsRecord and measure quality performance KPIsAnalyse quality performance data and trends and provide information to management to support improvement activitiesMonitor key measures including NCRs, scrap, rework, customer complaints and other relevant quality indicatorsTraining and Continuous ImprovementProvide quality-related training and guidance to production and inspection personnel where requiredPromote a proactive quality culture and support continuous improvement activities within the manufacturing environmentWork collaboratively with Operations, Engineering, Inspection and Quality Assurance to identify and implement quality improvementsPosition RequirementsAcademic: HND / Degree in engineering/related technical subject, or experience in a similar roleKnowledge or experience of aerospace quality requirementsKnowledge of NADCAP requirements would be advantageous, particularly Chemical Processing, Heat Treatment, Welding and NDTExperience: Similar experience in Quality Engineering or similar role within an aerospace production environmentProficiency in interpreting engineering drawingsExperience of investigating non-conformances and implementing corrective actionsExperience of conducting or supporting internal/process auditsExperience of FAIR/AS9102 activities would be advantageousKey Competencies: Quality controlKnowledge of AS9100 requirementsRoot
