Overview
As a Skilled Fettler at Magellan Aerospace, you will perform benching, fettling, deburring and related finishing to drawings and SOPs on precision components. You’ll work within a team on a 24/7 shift pattern at our Llay, Wrexham site, supporting post-machining quality and adherence to specifications. You’ll contribute to continuous improvement and lean manufacturing while maintaining safety, housekeeping and accurate documentation. Responsibilities
- Benching operations and edge removal, cleaning holes, sanding and deburring per drawings and SOP
- Fettling components to achieve precise ‘as drawn’ features
- Marking or identifying parts per specs or instructions
- Provide rework for parts not meeting drawings or inspection standards
- Accurately log cycle times and verify prior operations on job cards
- Report non-conformances and communicate production schedule deviations to meet targets
- Maintain safety, housekeeping and tool/equipment condition, following safety policies
- Support continual improvement and lean manufacturing initiatives
- Assist team with workflow and cross-shift information transfer
- Operate with minimal supervision while ensuring productivity
Key requirements
- Basic numeracy to read measuring equipment
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings
- Experience or qualification in using power/air tools and bench/fettle processes
- Manufacturing environment experience
- Competency using an MRP system like EFACS or similar
- Knowledge of specifications, SOPs and Work Instructions
- Good verbal communication
