Magellan Aerospace, Llay Wrexham has an exciting opportunity for a UK Supply Chain Quality Manager. Location: Llay, Wrexham, LL12 0PB. Full time, permanent position. 39 hours per week. Unionised site – works in partnership with Unite the Union.
Responsibilities
- Own and execute Supply Chain Quality Strategy, collaborating and building relationships with senior Magellan and Customer stakeholders up to VP level.
- Be comfortable with strategic data-driven tools and processes as well as pragmatic approaches in an aerospace/manufacturing environment.
- Ensure supplier QMS meets Magellan, AS9100, NADCAP and end customer requirements.
- Lead a small team and collaborate horizontally and cross-functionally with other Magellan teams across the UK including Procurement/Supply Chain, Quality and Customer.
- Provide leadership directly and through the team in supplier-related activities – up to 50% travel maximum.
- Assist with supplier development, problem solving and regulatory activity under the direction of the Quality Director.
- Conduct audits/investigations in a methodical manner, complete structured reports and communicate to a range of stakeholders.
Experience with:
- 8D, 5 Why, Ishikawa/Fishbone Diagrams, PFMEA, Control plans, Process Mapping, APQP.
- Knowledge of FAIR process.

Essential Responsibilities
- Visit, assess and audit suppliers within the UK in line with the Magellan audit process.
- Support Magellan supporting sites with QMS maintenance and development as required.
- Liaise with Magellan sites and internal departments on supplier quality related issues.
- Oversee the timely closure of Supplier related 8Ds and escalate internally accordingly.
- Oversee suppliers with transfer of work and review and approve resulting FAIR packs on behalf of Magellan.
- Liaise with customers/suppliers/regulators on quality related issues/support as required.
- Assist suppliers with special process qualification.
- Assist suppliers with QMS improvement.
- Carry out source inspection as required.
- Assist with general supplier development activity.
Position Requirements
- 10+ years’ experience in Aerospace/manufacturing and well versed with inspection and investigative methods.
- Strong aerospace/manufacturing background with Part 145/AS9100D experience.
Key Competencies
- Lead or Internal Auditor.
- Expert in problem solving tools – Lean, Six Sigma, APQP.
- AS9100D/Part 145 Leadership experience.
- Knowledge of FAIR process.
Other Skills/Abilities
- IT Skills to include Microsoft Office Products (Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook).
