Magellan Aerospace Blackpool has an exciting opportunity for a Chief Inspector.

Responsibilities

  • Take a lead role in providing direct hands-on support to the team using relevant equipment. This includes, but is not limited to:
  • 1st off
  • Live product queries
  • MRB disposition and feedback
  • Customer Escape returns
  • Liaise with the production and CMM teams to ensure inspection of products is performed in line with the communicated Work To List (WTL).
  • Support Quality Assurance & Quality Control teams in undertaking structured problem-solving reviews with production to reduce incident/scrap levels as part of the MAL Group countdown to zero programme.
  • Attend and support the MRB process, reconfirming any product reviewed with clear facts and reporting back to relevant parties.
  • Review and update inspection SOPs pertaining to product quality where necessary.
  • Work with Quality Assurance / Quality Control teams and Engineering to understand key customer, international and national standards and how this information is documented in divisional paperwork.
  • Aid the communication of Quality alerts and containment activities for internal and external concerns.
  • Collate and maintain data on inspection performance including non-conformance.
  • Work with minimal supervision and maintain good productivity.
  • Support teamwork and share experience within the workforce.
  • Support MOS requirements and contribute to 6S activities on site.
  • Work safely in compliance with the company Health & Safety policy; report and log incidents.
  • Any other reasonable duties as requested by management in support of the business.
  • Essential Skills & Qualifications

    • Academic: Relevant inspection Quality Assurance / Quality Control qualifications or experience; GCSE or equivalent including Maths & English.
    • Experience: Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a similar position within the aerospace or automotive industry sectors; Competent in the use of measuring equipment; Ability to read and interpret drawings and inspection reports; Experience with FAIR desirable.
