Magdalen Medical Publishing (MMP) is a digital publisher of online, independent, open-access medical news and education for healthcare professionals (HCPs) via our video journals, including VJHemOnc, VJOncology, and VJNeurology. In addition, we also develop and organise in-person scientific workshops and virtual webinars via our events arm, Magdalen Scientific. We provide HCPs with trustworthy, rapid, accessible updates in their field. Our goal is to improve understanding of the clinical landscape, empowering healthcare professionals to deliver the best quality care and improve the lives of patients worldwide.
MMP is seeking a Junior Designer to work alongside our Lead Designer to support the team in producing visually compelling designs that align with the style of our video journals and events. Day-to-day you will help design and create both digital and print assets for various channels, including websites, social media, and event materials. Working across multiple journals and products, the candidate should be comfortable working on multiple projects simultaneously and able to manage their time and prioritise jobs accordingly.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the Lead Designer to create visually engaging digital and print assets for various platforms, including websites, social media, email campaigns, and print materials.
- Work closely with the marketing and publishing teams to deliver assets on time and support ongoing activities.
- Assist in designing marketing materials, sales presentations, and event collateral that align with brand guidelines and objectives.
- Adapt and resize existing designs for different formats and platforms, ensuring consistency and high-quality output.
- Contribute to brainstorming sessions and provide creative input to enhance visual storytelling across all channels.
- Stay updated on design trends and industry best practices to contribute fresh ideas to projects.
Requirements
- Candidate should be located within commuting distance of our Ipswich office and be available to work up to 3 days per week in the office.
- Ability to be a creative and innovative thinker who can do their own research into subject matter and create visuals that are original, interesting, and relevant.
- Excellent attention to detail, ensuring designs are to spec, with relevant content.
- Proficiency with design software (e.g. Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator).
- Familiarity with additional software tools (e.g. Adobe XD, After Effects, Microsoft PowerPoint β preferable but not essential).
- Solid understanding of design principles (including typography, typesetting, colour theory, layout).
- Ability to design and produce artwork for both digital and print formats.
- Confident in managing competing priorities and deadlines.
- Receptive to feedback and requests for amends.
