Applications are invited for the full-time permanent role of Estates Archivist and Records Manager. This role is a joint appointment between Magdalen College, Oxford, and All Souls College, Oxford, and is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the care, management, and organisation of two of the most important college archives in either Oxford or Cambridge. The post-holder will be based three days a week (Mon-Wed) at Magdalen, and two days a week (Thurs-Fri) at All Souls.
The post-holder will be expected to contribute to the day-to-day management of the Magdalen College Archives, reporting to the Archivist and Records Manager, the Librarian, and the Library & Archives Committee. Duties include, but are not limited to, Provide for the care, management, and organisation of the college’s historic, semi-current, and current estate records (deeds, leases, surrenders, plans, correspondence, etc). Handle internal and external enquiries relating to the college’s estates and other property holdings, as well as those received in relation to the wider archive collections. Act as a key point of liaison between the college archives and the Estates Bursary in relation to the records it creates in the course of its day-to-day activities. Act as a key point of liaison with the college solicitor(s) in relation to the college’s estate records, both current and historic.
Applicants should have a good honours degree and a postgraduate qualification in Archives and Records Management recognised by the Archives and Records Association, with at least one year’s sector experience working with a broad range of archive materials.
The salary for this post will be at Grade 6 of the University Salary Scale, £34,982 – £44,382 per annum inclusive of £1,500 Oxford University Weighting plus benefits.
