This is a pivotal period for the organisation as it moves to join the EPA Multi Academy Trust. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring strong, compliant, and well-structured governance throughout the transition, with the support of the Trust's Governance Professional. Following the move into the MAT, the role will continue by providing clerking support to the School Academy Local Governing Body, ensuring continuity, high-quality administration, and effective oversight at local level.,

  • Organising and supporting governing board meetings
  • Support the Chair and senior leaders with agenda planning, meeting coordination, and document circulation
  • Attend and minute meetings (typically 1.5-2 hours) to a high professional standard
  • Advise on governance processes and procedures (full training will be provided)
  • Maintain accurate records, including membership, attendance, declarations of interest, and policy schedules
  • Provide ongoing clerking support to the Local Governing Body post transition

Working Arrangements

  • Meetings are currently held remotely, with occasional face-to-face meetings as required
  • Flexible working pattern, with preparation and minute-writing completed remotely
  • Availability for early evening meetings is a key requirement of the role

We are looking for a motivated and professional individual to join us as the Clerk to the Governing Body. Previous experience is not necessarily required as comprehensive training and ongoing support will be provided. We are seeking someone with the right skills, attitude and willingness to learn. This is a great opportunity for someone to develop specialist governance knowledge and build a valuable professional skill set, supported by a welcoming team committed to your development.

  • Has strong administrative experience
  • Is confident in the use of O365 applications and other digital systems
  • Has excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Can produce accurate minutes and professional documentation
  • Works with discretion and maintains confidentiality
  • Is proactive, reliable and able to work independently
  • Experience in academy or trust level governance clerking (Desirable)
  • Is exceptionally organised and able to manage multiple deadlines

The academy is willing to support the successful candidate in obtaining NGA's Level 3 Certificate in Clerking of School and Governing Boards, aimed at both new and experienced clerks working in schools or multi-academy trusts.
