Teaching Assistant for KS2 SEMH Specialist Resource Base – Magdalen 32.5 hours per week (no part‑time or reduced hours). Term time plus 1 week. Permanent position. Interview date: 16 June 2026.

We have an eight‑place SRB unit for pupils on SEMH needs. Our goal is to support them to participate in mainstream classes as much as possible. Working in the base gives you the chance to develop skills and knowledge for supporting pupils with SEMH through the expertise of the team in school and with wider SRB teams for Norfolk County Council and specialist partners.

Responsibilities and Qualifications
  • Be a kind, caring person who understands that children learn best in an inclusive environment.
  • Have experience or interest in working with children with different learning needs, particularly those with SEMH.
  • Have experience or ideas about how to use creative and innovative strategies to engage children in school life and learning.
  • Have patience and resilience when dealing with children who demonstrate challenging behaviours.
  • Have excellent communication skills.
  • Be able to work individually and as part of a team.
  • Ensure pupils’ EHCP targets are met and their social and emotional skills are developed.
Requirements
  • Subject to an enhanced DBS check and satisfactory references.
  • Subject to Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) – fluent English is an essential requirement.
  • Must complete declaration form to establish whether the applicant is disqualified under the Childcare (Disqualification) 2009 Regulations.
  • All applicants must undergo safeguarding screening appropriate to the post, including checks with Disclosure & Barring Service and at least two references covering the last three years; references may be requested before interview.
