The Standards and Training Manager (STM) will manage and develop technical training and standards across the programme in all matters relating to field operations, equipment and training, and provide logistical and administrative support to the Technical Operations Manager (TOM) and Training Monitoring and Evaluation Unit. This support will include compilation of training management practices and training plans to assist in maintenance of operational effectiveness through coordination, planning and assessment management. This role will deputise for the TOM when required, so the ability to think strategically is a must. Roles are in remote areas, working in challenging contexts away from home comforts, but the life-saving impact the work has on local communities is very real, and rewarding.
The successful candidate must have comprehensive technical knowledge of unexploded ordnance, air dropped weapons and area clearance techniques, including new development. You must be EOD 3+ qualified and have experience of working in EOD operations in developing or conflict affected countries that are contaminated by remnants of conflict, and of managing field clearance and technical operations You will be experienced in leading, motivating and managing a diverse team of people, and in mentoring and coaching others. You will also have experience of designing, developing, and delivering formal or informal operational training, and the transfer of appropriate skills. Experience in conducting and managing QM systems and processes across field related operations is also essential.
The postholder will be innovative, proactive and committed to high quality standards and continually improving effectiveness and efficiency. The ability to develop, review and comply with security and technical Standard Operating Procedures is essential to the role. You will be able to establish and develop effective working relationships at all levels internally and externally and to represent and promote MAG, with demonstrable experience working with National Mine Action Authorities. In addition, you will possess excellent communication, interpersonal and organisation skills, with the ability to plan and coordinate activities and projects. Experience of working independently for extended periods of time in ‘stand-alone’ environments with minimal supervision is required.
The salary package for this position is £71,528 GBP per annum (approx. $90,598 USD), including all allowances., * Salary: £71,528 per annum, including all allowances, and this increases with service.

Leave: We recognise our staff work hard and need the appropriate time out to stay motivated. You’ll have a minimum of six weeks out of the programme per year.

Flights: MAG provides three international flights home per year.

Insurance: All international staff are automatically covered by MAG’s comprehensive insurance package including: Personal accident and medical expenses insurance; Death by natural causes insurance and access to 24-hour medical assistance including evacuation and repatriation.
