About the role: As part of our Strategic Framework 2024 -2028, MAG is committed to developing an inclusive global workforce to ensure we have the right skills, capacity and culture to deliver the highest quality of programming with the most possible impact. The Head of Talent is a fantastic opportunity to play a key role in helping us achieve this. Reporting to the Director of People & Culture, you will be responsible for providing both strategic and operational leadership across our talent processes, including recruitment, promotion, and deployment. A unique opportunity to shape the way we work, the role is responsible for the development and implementation of a Talent Strategy which helps us to achieve our strategic aims. With an initial focus on supporting our UK contracted roles, including Manchester/UK, remote, roving, and programme international roles, you will also have the opportunity to work to build the capacity of our local teams in the area of recruitment.
On the operational side, you will lead the team to ensure that day-to-day recruitment processes are contemporary, transparent and accessible to both internal and external candidates. You will also have the opportunity to support the recruitment process for Leadership Team roles, other senior ‘hard to fill’ roles, and governance roles. As part of the People & Culture Leadership team, you will work in close collaboration with the Head of Human Resources, Safeguarding Lead, and the Equity, Diversity & Inclusion Manager to ensure strong integration across all our work.

About you: You will have significant experience leading and supporting a team to deliver end-to-end recruitment in an international context. With a background in the humanitarian/NGO sector, you will be well versed in best practice talent acquisition strategies, with an ability to contextualise processes to meet organisational needs. A strong collaborator, you will also be experienced in working with a variety of stakeholders to understand their needs and design successful initiatives. You are creative, innovative, and determined, with the ability to adapt and shape ideas to ensure success. You are also adept at optimising the use of technology to support effective and efficient recruitment processes. You also have a strong commitment to working with EDI and Safeguarding principles in mind.
We’re looking for someone with:
- Significant experience leading and supporting a team to deliver end-to-end recruitment support in an international context.
- Experience in the use of technology to support effective and efficient recruitment processes.
- Demonstrated experience in the design and implementation of contemporary recruitment practices.
- Strong understanding of best practice talent acquisition, and an ability to contextualise this to meet organisational needs.
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to influence across all levels of an organisation.
Benefits and Further Information:
- Salary: £56,220 per annum and this increases with service.
- Pension: MAG has a salary sacrifice group personal pension plan in place, and matches employee’s contributions up to 5%.
- Leave: Annual Leave starts at five weeks each year and increases with service to six weeks. We also offer paid sick leave, and the amount of the entitlement increases with service. Once you’ve been with MAG for two years, you’re entitled to 13 weeks.
- Insurance: MAG provides personal accident insurance and life assurance to all staff, as well as medical and repatriation insurance for any period spent overseas whilst working for MAG.
- Professional Subscriptions: MAG will pay for the cost of your annual subscription/membership fee for one professional body in certain circumstances.
