About the role

You will report to the Director of People & Culture and be responsible for providing both strategic and operational leadership across our talent processes, including recruitment, promotion and deployment. Your role will develop and implement a Talent Strategy that supports our Strategic Framework 2024‑2028, with an initial focus on supporting UK‑contracted roles (Manchester/UK, remote, roving and programme international). You will lead a team to ensure contemporary, transparent and accessible recruitment processes for both internal and external candidates, including supporting the recruitment of Leadership Team, senior hard‑to‑fill and governance roles. As part of the People & Culture Leadership team you will work closely with the Head of Human Resources, Safeguarding Lead and the EDI Manager to ensure strong integration across all our work. This position is subject to background checks before an offer of employment is confirmed. MAG is committed to the principles of diversity, equality and inclusion. We welcome applications from all backgrounds and strive to provide an inclusive and supportive working environment.

Requirements

  • You will have significant experience leading and supporting a team to deliver end‑to‑end recruitment in an international context, with a background in the humanitarian/NGO sector.
  • You will be well‑versed in best‑practice talent acquisition strategies and able to contextualise them to meet organisational needs.
  • A strong collaborator, you will have experience working with diverse stakeholders to understand their needs and design successful initiatives.
  • You are creative, innovative and determined, able to adapt and shape ideas to ensure success.
  • You are adept at optimising the use of technology to support effective and efficient recruitment processes and are committed to working with EDI and Safeguarding principles in mind.

Benefits

  • Salary: £56,220 per annum, increasing with service
  • Pension: MAG offers a salary‑sacrifice group personal pension plan and matches employee contributions up to 5%

  • Professional Subscriptions: MAG will cover the annual subscription fee for one professional body in certain circumstances
  • Employee Assistance Programme: Free access to Health Assured, a 24/7 confidential support and advice service

This role is based in the UK; a pre‑existing right to work is required and MAG will not sponsor visa applications. If you have not declared your right to work in the UK, we will not be able to consider you for this role. We are happy to receive flexible working and job‑share requests.
