About MAG: MAG (Mines Advisory Group) is an international humanitarian organisation based in Manchester, UK, and working in 32 countries. We remove landmines and unexploded ordnance to release safe and productive land for communities, and work to reduce the threat of armed violence by supporting governments to safely manage weapons and ammunition. In 1997, MAG was a co‑recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize for our work campaigning for the Anti‑Personnel Mine Ban Convention.
About the role: Reporting to the Global Head of Procurement and Logistics, the Global Fleet Manager leads on the development and adoption of MAG's Global Fleet Management Standards, promoting continuous improvement and quality management culture across all MAG locations. You will act as a global focal point, supporting both remotely and through field visits to ensure the quality and effectiveness of management processes and internal controls used across a wide range of motorised assets including light vehicles, generators, and heavy vehicles. You will act as the business owner of MAG's Standard Specifications for Motorised Assets, and in collaboration with the Global Mechanical Technical Advisor you will supervise the full lifecycle of the management process, providing technical guidance and ensuring the development and implementation of effective quality assurance processes. You will work with key stakeholders, including MAG leadership, to design and roll out initiatives to improve the efficiency, effectiveness, and environmental impact reduction of MAG's fleet.
Please note that as part of MAG's commitment to safeguarding, this post is subject to background checks before an offer of employment is confirmed. For more information on MAG's approach to safeguarding and background checks on our website. MAG is committed to the principles of diversity, equality and inclusion. If you think you would be suited to one of our roles we would welcome your application regardless of your background. We strive to provide an inclusive and supportive working environment where all employees feel respected and supported in fulfilling their potential.
Requirements About you: You will have direct experience managing large fleets within complex operating environments, including 4x4 and heavy vehicles. Demonstrable understanding of the challenges and constraints associated with operating specialised fleet in challenging contexts is essential, as is the ability to manage multiple conflicting priorities and work calmly under pressure. You should be adept with reporting systems, dashboard management tools, and data analysis, and able to effectively utilise fleet management data to inform and coordinate global initiatives. You will have excellent written and spoken English language skills including experience writing and reviewing policies and SOPs. You should be inclusive and facilitative, with experience capacity building senior and junior colleagues, acting as a technical leader, and leading the adoption of processes and standards across multiple locations. MAG's areas of operations are often remote with basic amenities, so you will need to be able to live and work in challenging environments, where the need for your skills and MAG's work is most.
We're looking for someone with:
- Experience managing fleets of light vehicles at large scale in contexts where MAG operates
- Qualifications in mechanical engineering or workshop management
- Experience using fleet management systems including data analysis and analytics
