Role summary
Working at Stansted Airport will provide an exciting opportunity for any high performing Project Manager (PM) to work in a busy, diverse and challenging environment. Working in the Capital Delivery Team, our core function and focus is to deliver the Capital Plan safely, on time and within budget. Alongside our Senior PMs you will work diligently with multiple stakeholders to provide new or replaced assets to support the operational needs of the business.
As part of this role, you will be working within our many construction projects across Stansted Airport, that often cover our terminals, airfields and other existing infrastructure. Managing these projects means being accountable for the annual CAPEX spend, as well as individual budgets of £1 to 5 million for some of our capital projects. Management of our contractors is also a key part of the role, with some construction environments requiring over 20 contractors at any given time.
Responsibilities
- Accountable for delivery of projects within own Programme of works across group with clear focus on Cost, Schedule, and Quality and compliance with the MAG PDS.
- Ensure appropriate resource is allocated to projects within Programme portfolio.
- Plans, prioritises, and manages multiple projects, ensuring delivery as promised with business case benefits realised.
- Accountable for ensuring own Programme of projects are undertaken with minimal acceptable disruption to Airport operations.
- Drives value and efficiency through robust contract management and identification of on project opportunities.
- Accountable for achieving in year Capex expenditure for own portfolio of projects.
What will make you successful
You will be educated to University Degree level and have Chartered Engineer or Chartered Surveyor Status, or are working towards Professional Body membership – MRICS/MCIOB/ICE/PMI/IET.
You’ll have strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to engage and communicate with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders, effectively managing conflicting stakeholder demands. You will have demonstrable project development experience from explore through to handover and experience in managing 3rd party approvals (e.g., Planning, Property, Legal). Experience within a construction environment is desirable.
- Preferable to hold a current Construction Skills Certification (CSCS) CITB or equivalent
- Computer literate MS Office Suite, MS Project/Primavera P6, CEMAR
- Working Knowledge of Contract Administration (NEC 3,4 contract management)
- Working Knowledge of Construction Design Management (CDM)
- Strong stakeholder management skills with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.
- Manage 3rd party approvals (eg Planning, Building Regulations, Property, Legal).
- Ability to develop credible CAPEX business cases and present to a capex panel.
- Ability to lead projects, influencing skills.
- Understanding of performance management overseeing teams of Contractors
- Liaising with Stakeholders at all levels, ensuring all projects align to MAG standards and relevant Regulation.
