The role

As Health & Safety Associate Director, you will provide strategic leadership across the Airport, driving excellence in health, safety and fire safety across airport operations, assets, construction and airfield activities. You’ll lead the airport’s Safety Risk Management and Assurance strategy, ensuring operational, occupational, fire and construction risks are effectively identified, managed and controlled in line with regulatory requirements and MAG policies. Working across a complex, fast-paced environment, you’ll embed safety into business processes, strengthen safety management systems, and deliver targeted improvement plans that support continuous improvement and operational excellence.

A trusted advisor to the Airport Managing Director, COO and senior leadership team, you’ll play a key role in shaping a proactive safety culture, influencing stakeholders at all levels and driving the delivery of safety strategy, performance and compliance. You’ll also contribute to the wider development of MAG’s Group Safety agenda, helping to enhance safety culture and performance across the organisation.

What will make you successful in the role?

  • IOSH-qualified Health & Safety professional with a proven track record of delivering health and safety improvements within complex operational environments.
  • Strong working knowledge of Health, Safety, Fire and Construction legislation, with the ability to apply best practice and ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Demonstrable experience of improving organisational safety performance, driving measurable outcomes and continuous improvement.
  • Proven ability to shape and deliver Health & Safety strategy, influencing cultural change and embedding a positive safety culture across an organisation.
  • Excellent stakeholder management, communication and engagement skills, with the ability to build credibility and strong working relationships at all levels.
  • Ability to influence, challenge and engage stakeholders from frontline teams through to senior leadership.
  • Experienced people leader, with a track record of developing high-performing teams and creating an environment where people can thrive.
  • A strong functional and business leader, capable of balancing operational priorities, risk management and strategic objectives to deliver business outcomes.
