The role provides expert HR advice and guidance, ensuring that people policies and processes are applied consistently and effectively across the organisation. Act as a trusted partner to managers, influencing people‑related decisions, leading on employee relations and supporting organisational change. By driving improvements in workforce engagement, wellbeing and compliance, they directly contribute to operational resilience, cost control, and a positive colleague experience.
Accountabilities:
- Deliver expert HR advice and guidance to managers, ensuring compliance with employment law, HR policy and best practice.
- Lead on employee relations casework, including disciplinaries, grievances, capability, and absence management, ensuring timely and fair resolution.
- Coach and upskill managers to build people management capability across the business.
- Support and develop managers to use the new case manager system, ER Case Management.
- Analyse and interpret workforce data to provide insight and recommendations to senior leaders.
- Act as a key point of contact for Trade Unions, fostering constructive relationships and supporting consultation/negotiation activity.
- Ensure operational excellence in HR processes, streamlining administration while improving service delivery.
What will make you successful in the role?
- In-depth HR generalist experience with strong knowledge of employment law, policies and procedures.
- Proven track record of leading employee relations casework, including complex or high‑risk cases.
- Demonstrated ability to influence and coach senior managers, shaping decision‑making at a strategic level.
- Experience in supporting organisational change, including restructures and redundancy, (TUPE desirable).
- Skilled in building positive, professional relationships with Trade Unions and supporting negotiation/consultation.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools with ability to provide clear data analysis and impactful reports/presentations.
- CIPD Level 5 qualified (ideally working towards Level 7) or equivalent experience.
- Collaborative and resilient style, able to manage competing priorities and deliver outcomes at pace.
- High levels of accuracy and attention to detail.
