Do you want to be part of a growing organisation, with lots of opportunities and driving a modern fleet of vehicles? Then look no further! We have exciting opportunities for HGV Class 1 Drivers to join our Maelor Foods Team as follows:

  • Hours of Work: 48 hours per week working rotating shifts with overtime available, inclusive of 45 minutes paid break per shift! Various Shift patterns available. Rotating: Tuesday to Saturday / Monday to Friday
  • Hourly rates: £16.85 per hour
  • Overtime rate: Paid at time and a quarter.
  • Start times: This will vary dependent on transport plan.
  • Qualifications and experience:
    • HGV Class 1
    • Up to date CPC Card
    • Up to date Digital Tachograph Card
    • No more than 6 points on licence with no DR and DG codes
    • It would be advantageous to hold a WAIT licence however full training will be provided.
  • Duties / Responsibilities:
    • Supervise the loading of the vehicle so that products are safely loaded and secured to minimise chances of damage.
    • Ensure that the load is correct with loader against customer orders.
    • The load does not exceed the capacity of the vehicles' weight limit and is in compliance with the law.
    • When the vehicle is loaded to make sure it is loaded side by side for even weight distribution across the axles.
    • To ensure the safe/bar/pallet straps are used to secure the load.
    • Ensure on delivery the delivery is safe to make and respect the customers property.
    • Check goods off with customers (where access is permitted) and obtain signature and print.
    • If there are any errors with the delivery or paperwork to contact the office and follow the instructions given which may involve amending the paperwork.
    • Provide excellent customer service.
    • Handle customer issues on delivery effectively and avoid getting over involved in discussion, if necessary contact the office for assistance.
    • Carry out multi drop deliveries in a timely and safe manner.
    • Drive the vehicle safely and in accordance with law.
    • Drive within the driver hours limits.
    • Look after the vehicle and ensure that it is not subjected to unnecessary damage.
    • Maintain the cleanliness of the driving cab.
    • To comply with fuel directives.
    • Ensure accidents are kept to minimum.
    • Report any accidents as soon as possible and in compliance with the Company's accident reporting procedure.
    • Before you drive complete your Daily Inspection Sheet and hand it to the office at the end of your shift.
    • Attend as and when required essential training in order to carry out the driver role.
    • To provide support to Despatch Department and Yard as and when required.
    • To use hand held pallet truck as and when necessary.
    • At the end of each shift the vehicle and fridge must be refuelled with Diesel.
    • Top up on Adblue if required.
    • To wear appropriate PPE required at all times.
    • Adhere to all Company Policies and Procedures, Dress Code Policy, Standards of Performance Policy and Health and Safety Policy.
